Yemen is facing the worst cholera epidemic in the world - UN
Yemen is now facing the world's most serious cholera epidemic, warned the United Nations.
A statement from UNICEF and the World Health Organization says that the number of suspected cases of cholera in the war-torn country exceeded 200,000.
So far, more than 1,300 people have died - a quarter of them - the death toll is expected to increase.
The two UN agencies say they are doing everything they can to prevent the epidemic from accelerating.
"Now we face the worst cholera crisis in the world," the statement said.
"In just two months, cholera has spread to almost every province in the war-torn country," he said, with about 5,000 new cases every day.

The rebels control much of the country, including the capital, Sana'a.
Hospitals are severe food shortages and overcrowding have led to widespread malnutrition, prompting Yemenis - especially children - to be even more vulnerable to cholera.

The UN says it is making rapid reaction teams to go home in contact with people to protect themselves by cleaning and storing drinking water. But the clean water is insufficient.
Cholera is an acute diarrheal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholera.
Most infected people will have mild or noxious symptoms, but in severe cases, the disease can kill within hours if left untreated.
The war has left 18.8 million of 28 million people in Yemen in need of humanitarian aid and nearly seven million on the brink of starvation.
